U4500 series sensors are composed of high-performance tactical-grade MEMS-IMU designed IMU/VRU/MRU/AHRS/INS systems, and are equipped with independently developed adaptive extended Kalman filtering, IMU noise dynamic analysis algorithms, heave estimation algorithms, carrier motion state analysis algorithms, and GNSS fusion algorithms, which can provide users with accurate position, attitude, velocity and other information.

U4500 series sensors transmit data through UART/CAN interfaces and have rich user configurations. (A transceiver needs to be connected externally for CAN)

U4500 series can synchronize with the system through external triggering, can receive UTC time, and can also align time with external systems such as radars and cameras through the synchronous output function.

A multi-functional upper computer (GUI) can help quickly evaluate the product, and these functions include but are not limited to module configuration, data display, firmware upgrade, data recording, etc.

Dynamic Positioning of Ships

  1. U4500 System Architecture

U4500 series is an all-functional sensor module integrating multiple functions such as IMU, VRU, MRU, and AHRS. It undergoes rigorous calibration tests for scale factor, cross-axis, temperature, and zero bias before leaving the factory, and can provide users with basic sensor data (acceleration, angular velocity, geomagnetic field, air pressure), 3D orientation data (Euler angles, i.e., pitch, roll, yaw), quaternions, and other data. If users connect an external GNSS, it can also provide information such as speed and position. U4500 module is equipped with a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis geomagnetic sensor, a barometer, and a high-performance processor. This controller is mainly used for sensor synchronization, calibration, algorithm fusion, and user configuration. Meanwhile, based on application scenarios and sensor characteristics, we provide users with multiple modes such as 6DOF, AHRS, geomagnetic-assisted heading angle, humanoid robot, and high vibration. For details, please refer to the instruction and programming manual.

4.1 IMU Sub-system

U4500 can function as an IMU, providing users with three-dimensional acceleration and three-dimensional angular velocity. Compared with traditional IMU chips, its advantage lies in that these data have undergone strict calibration and compensation before leaving the factory, including (cross-axis, scale factor, zero offset, and temperature).

4.2 VRU Sub-system

Through our self-developed algorithm fusion engine, U4500 can output three-dimensional orientation data based on the gravity reference frame using IMU basic data. These data include drift-free pitch angles, roll angles, and non-referenced yaw angles (starting from 0 degrees and accumulating upon power-up). They exhibit excellent vibration resistance and dynamic performance. Although the yaw angle has no reference, it still features industry-leading low-drift characteristics.

4.3 MRU Sub-system

Based on the VRU system, after algorithm adaptation, we can provide users with data such as heave, roll, pitch, etc., thus forming the MRU system.

4.4 AHRS Sub-system

On the basis of IMU/VRU, we have introduced a high-precision, large-range TMR geomagnetic sensor, upgrading U4500 to a more powerful Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), which can output drift-free pitch angles, roll angles, and yaw angles based on magnetic north for users.

4.5 INS Sub-system

U4500 series sensors can be upgraded to powerful INS modules by connecting an external GNSS, which can provide users with complete data such as speed, position, attitude, and timing.
